Introduction
The following installation instructions are provided solely in an effort to assist installers. Sno Gem strongly recommends that these products be installed by a qualified roofing contractor who will have the knowledge and ability to properly install the product. Sno Gem does not take any responsibility for acts, errors or omissions of the installer and cannot be held responsible for product installation. Installation Instructions
1.) The Sno Gem Sno-Barricade system is comprised of the innovative 2 piece Gem Clamp and 1" square tube. Calculate the number of Gem Clamps needed for each 10' section of bar (i.e.- 5 clamps for a 24" wide panel) and place the bar through the Gen Clamps. The 10' bar can now be raised to the roof. Space the two end clamps at the dimension you want the bar to sit, typically 1' up from the eave, open each Gem Clamp and attach to the seam.
2.) Inside the Gem Clamp is a patent-pending button crimper. Tighten (2) 5/16" socket head cap screws into the Gem Clamp to firmly set clamp in place. The button crimper will grip the seam tightly, yet there is no penetration of the roofing material. Repeat for each Gem Clamp that has previously been placed on the bar and attach to each seam.
3.) Insert and tighten the 1/4" set screw into the top of the clamp. This set screw will hold the bar in place and prevent any lateral movement,
4.) An insert is provided for each section of tubing. The insert is placed into the ends of each tube so that the run is truly continuous. After a full run of tubing is installed, an end cap is provided for each end.
INSTALLING OPTIONAL SNO-FLAG:
5.) The Sno Gem Sno-Flag is an optional item that will help to prevent snow and/or ice from sliding under the bar. The Sno-Flag(s) should be centered on the panel and installed such that the Snow Flag is placed in front (i.e.-upslope) of the bar. The set screw is to be inserted into the pre-punched hole in the Snow Flag and will not be visible from the ground. This will prevent the Sno-Flag from moving laterally as well as prevent any
rotation of the Snow Flag.
